This year has continued to bring more new changes to our beautiful lodge! We have added a full coffee bar and bakery. Folks are certainly enjoying their cinnamon rolls with their lattes as they take in the views from our porch and Lakeview room!

As I look around at the work we have done, I can't help but get excited about this winter! Even though the snow is taking it's time showing up (only about 2 1/2 feet as I write this) we are still in a most beautiful setting in this winter-wonderland!

Our menu is also causing quite a stir as folks are raving about our new specialty brats and sausages. Our hands down favorite seems to be our Elk Jalapeno Cheddar Brat. A close second is the Sweet Italian Bison. Served with some mouth watering grilled onions and a special butter rich sauerkraut it really makes a hearty and satisfying meal.

Then of course is our new cappuccino machine and we are getting ready to whip up some great lattes and mocha's.  OK...here is a moment of truth...the machine was just installed and I need to practice...so if you come up and there is a very 'wired' lady behind the counter it will be because I have sampled way to many espressos!!!!

For now, I need to get back to planning our New Years Eve menu! I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone the most wonderful Christmas and New Years and I pray for the blessings of peace, joy, and prosperity for each and everyone of you!

I am convinced that Alexander certainly has the most wonderful guests!

WELCOME! 01/26/2011

A lot is happening lately up here on the Grand Mesa, and
I'm not just talking snow!  It is however, a glorious day up here! The sun is shining brightly on a great base of about 5ft of snow!

So, just what is happening here?

  • Lodge Renovations and upgrades
  • A new website
  • A new Bed and Breakfast
  • Cabin remodels
  • And a whole new way to enjoy Colorado mountain life!

Right now I hear the hammering as we have to take care of some mechanics.  Tomorrow however those hammers will be happily working on getting the bookshelves in place for the new library!  A lot of history here, as the first lodge built by William Radcliffe in 1895, housed a magnificent library, resplendent with fine art, tapestries, game trophy's as well as many first edition books.

We are so excited and feel so blessed by the donation of 2,000 hardback books from the Public Library in Cedaredge! I can hardly wait to begin dusting off these books and placing them in their new home!  We are grateful to have such great friends and supporters of the lodge here in Delta County.

The vision we have for our new library, is that it will be a wonderful place to kick back and enjoy a fine coffee or brandy and quiet conversation while escaping the business of the main lodge and surrounding areas!

The library will also be offered to private parties wishing an intimate setting for small groups of up to 12.  As part of the larger lodge it will also be a semi-formal setting ideal for a small wedding and great for formal portraits!

Hope to bring you an update soon with pictures
