WELCOME! 01/26/2011
A lot is happening lately up here on the Grand Mesa, and I'm not just talking snow! It is however, a glorious day up here! The sun is shining brightly on a great base of about 5ft of snow! So, just what is happening here?
Right now I hear the hammering as we have to take care of some mechanics. Tomorrow however those hammers will be happily working on getting the bookshelves in place for the new library! A lot of history here, as the first lodge built by William Radcliffe in 1895, housed a magnificent library, resplendent with fine art, tapestries, game trophy's as well as many first edition books. We are so excited and feel so blessed by the donation of 2,000 hardback books from the Public Library in Cedaredge! I can hardly wait to begin dusting off these books and placing them in their new home! We are grateful to have such great friends and supporters of the lodge here in Delta County. The vision we have for our new library, is that it will be a wonderful place to kick back and enjoy a fine coffee or brandy and quiet conversation while escaping the business of the main lodge and surrounding areas! The library will also be offered to private parties wishing an intimate setting for small groups of up to 12. As part of the larger lodge it will also be a semi-formal setting ideal for a small wedding and great for formal portraits! Hope to bring you an update soon with pictures CommentsKris deines 01/31/2011 8:45am

I truly am glad to see that there are new owners to the lodge. I served as Head Chef to the previous ownership of "the Spruce Lodge" and the way that things were run then and from a professional stand point they had no business in the business! Congradulations on your venture, and if you need some "plugs" in the west of the rockies let me know and I'll be glad to send you some business. Art Ensley 02/12/2011 4:51am
Glad to see the lodge open again. Too much history and tradition that should be preserved and extended. Dave & Pat Collins 02/14/2011 4:46pm
We met Dan & Andy when checking out the great snowmobile rides available. Lynn came by & talked a while. She invited us for a tour. She's quite a hostess. After meeting all the neighbors, we decided this was the place to celebrate our 20th anniversary in August. Thanks to Lynn, Andy & Dan, we'll be back. 02/26/2012 4:33pm
I first met John and Lucinda during the Colorado Snowmobile Convention in January of 2012. Our group was only able to stay for one night, which they gladly accommodated. Also, we met Cliff, with The Alexander Lake Lodge and Andy, the local outfitter, who is based out of the Visitors Center on the Grand Mesa. (www.angflyfishing.com) My first visit was outstanding and I wanted to return with my wife, Soni and our two boys, Luke and Ridge. Our family arrived February 23rd for two nights. The accommodations were clean and cozy. The main lodge is unbelievable with the floor to ceiling fireplace and Lucinda's vast library. We rented two snowmobiles from Andy who was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable of the area. THANK YOU to everyone for a wonderful trip! Leave a Reply |
